Although not officially a band at the time, Saved By Grace dated back to 1998, as several members of the unit were involved in various local acts in the Kansas City area. After writing material and numerous practices, the five-piece would record a four-song demo. Following a brief band hiatus, SBG would hit a snag, as its front man decided to enlist in the army. At this point, SBG's bassist would takeover vocal duties, and the band would eventually find a permanent bassist to complete the line-up in early-2000. SBG would play its first show in September of 2000, and sign with Recorse Records later that Fall/Winter. The band's debut full-length for Recorse, "For What You Have Done," was released in late-2001/early-2002. Combining tortured vocals with melodic metalcore (a hybrid of Shai Hulud and ZAO), fans of the new school should definitely check out this up-and-coming band. hide
